Cambodia Casinos

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the border from neighboring Thailand, where casino wagering is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and though visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that contains a number of amenities aside from the gambling den, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and eighty eight tables.
