Gambling-The Dream of America
Is not that what gambling is all about. You’re constantly hopeful that you simply can acquire a thing for absolutely nothing, or at the very least extremely little. Do you not recall what your mother advised you? You cannot get something for nothing. That’s what my mother told me, and I’ve found out since then that she was absolutely right. I believe Wilson Mizner mentioned it best, when he said, "Gambling: The sure way of obtaining absolutely nothing for something." Definitely, at the end of the day, that is it…..correct?
In the wonderful state of Montana they’ve these wonderful little equipments, known as keno machines. These keno machines are everywhere, and the places that these machines reside are known as "gambling establishments". I put gambling houses is quotes because they aren’t betting houses like you believe of gambling houses. You will find no table casino game or slot devices, just video poker and keno machines. In any case, I managed to obtain myself roped in to the dream of succeeding a few hundred bucks in a sitting. The next thing I knew I was going back to these equipment almost daily. After a couple of months of this I recognized that no one truly wins. Oh sure, you may win $50 here and there, but over the a period of time your just feeding the machines 5 dollar bills like they were candy.
I managed to look at myself and I do not even go into the "gambling establishments" any more. I’ve met persons who truthfully nearly lost everything they have playing the ridiculous keno machines. The factor that gets me about this type of wagering may be the fact that gambling houses will advertise on the radio that they have an eighty-five percent payback rate. This is the rate because it is mandated by law. A 85 per cent payback rate sounds wonderful, but when you feel about it this merely means that in case you put one dollar into the products it gives eighty-five cents back . That is how it works. Just consider of it as a reverse ATM. When I started thinking of gambling in these terms, I stopped.
I suppose that is my target with this article. To have you to realize that you simply truly can’t win, no matter what other people tell you. As Doc Holiday mentioned in Tombstone, "The odds are all for the house." That and only that will be the only reason there is even a place on this planet known as Las Vegas. Because the odds are all on the house.
